Get your own domain and be known

Most people make blogs and some makes game or fan sites. One of the integral parts of being known on the web is domain names. Sure people can remember you if you have this web address htt://mywebiste.cjb.net or http:// mywebsite.cx.cn but on the long run, your presence relies on this 2 websites providers to exist.

One of the solutions for this problem is to get your own domain name and register it the way you like it. In order for this to work, you need a nice webhosting that allows domains support as part of the service. All paid webhosting services allows this and half of the free webhosting services.

For free webhosting, you can start searching on sites like this one http://www.free-webhosts.com/ and browse on what you need.

The choices to consider are

  • Space – how much space do you want.
  • Ads – do the services force you to put ads or not and if they do, where do you need to put them? It is also a nice move to check if you are allowed to put ads of your own. Half of the bloggers get paid using ads from different providers.
  • Upload support – do you they give you support for FTP, a special software to upload files or only web base upload? This is important since web base upload needs you to upload 1 file at a time. Normally you will need to upload a lot of files on the initial setup.
  • URL support – this is the one you are looking for, check if they support domain names.
  • After checking the list, you can jump to your favourite domain registry. Please take note for those people that are new to domain registration that the process takes around 1 hour to make of 2 days to complete. Domain information must be copied on all main servers around the globe, my fastest completion was 7 hours longest was 47hours.

What’s in your computer? If you’re like most of us, you can probably name the processor (Intel or AMD, Celeron or Pentium), maybe how much RAM it has, and maybe how big the hard drive is.

When you go to a computer store and see all the bright shiny PCs laid out next to each other, most will have tags or stickers indicating the:

* Processor brand and model
* Hard drive size and speed
* Amount of memory (RAM)
* Graphics card
* Operating system
